Fault patterns

Most earthquakes are from the dislocation caused by the local layer dislocation caused by the earthquake, the fault on both sides of the strata relative to do exercise, the relative exercise actually are separated by a surface, this surface is called segmentation fault plane (fault plane). Relative motion form of the decision of the type of fault.

Fault can basically be divided into three patterns:
1. By the tension caused by normal faults
(Normal fault)
2. By the pressure caused by thrust fault
(Thrust fault)
3. Shift caused by the shear fault
(Strike-slipe fault)

Few faults are usually purely normal fault, reverse fault or the translation fault, the majority of faults may be generated by normal faults (or reverse fault) and a combination of translation fault oblique-slip fault. After the earthquake fault would try to seek the sliding form, can Backstepping crustal stress the nature and distribution.
